Ask the patient to open the mouth, and inspect the throat with at good torch and tongue depressor. - If the tonsils are red and inflamed with tender tonsillar lymph nodes below the angle of mandible, then it is acute Tonsilitis.
- If the entire throat i.e posterior pharyngeal wall is inflamed, then it is acute pharyngitis.
- If there are inflamed rough granules over the posterior pharyngeal wall, it is granular pharyngitis (Chronic)
- If you see a white patch anywhere in the throat suspect ‘Diptheria’ and refer immediately
